Maybe Later

Albert Brooks talking about his new movie, "Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World": "One of them asked me: Are you a Jew. I answered, "Not right now."

Wonderful.

You know I really want to like Albert Brooks' movies, but somehow they are not as funny as his interviews. On Fresh Air yesterday, I think I figured out why: "I don't make movies to make people laugh, that's not what humor is about."

Turns out he had a tough childhood. Another rabbi masquerading as a stand-up.

Ken Doctor, Journalist

Ken Doctor is a veteran of alternative, mainstream print and Internet journalism. He's critically concerned about the emerging impacts of digital content, new monetization of that content and the impact on our democracy as we know it. He just completed a 21-year career with Knight Ridder, where he recently served as vp/content services, vp/strategy and vp/editorial for Knight Ridder Digital.

His national Internet work grew out of his work developing Pioneer Planet, the Saint Paul Pioneer Press' online service, which debuted in 1995. While serving as managing editor of the newspaper, Doctor led the development of Pioneer Planet. That experience in the Twin Cities built on a diverse print career, first based in the alternative press and then in monthly magazines.

Doctor's Internet work thus became his fourth medium.

His new company, Content Bridges, consults and writes about digital content opportunities and issues.
